KFC Italy petition: we have surpassed 50,000 signatures

50,000 people have signed our petition calling on KFC Italy to commit to eliminating the cruelest practices in its suppliers’ chicken farms, such as high stocking densities and the use of fast-growing breeds.

We launched the campaign against the fast food chain at the end of 2023 and have since continued to urge the company to commit to reducing chicken suffering by signing the European Chicken Commitment, as it has already done in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

As part of the campaign, in March 2024, we released an undercover investigation conducted in four facilities of a KFC Italy supplier in the province of Verona. The footage reveals chickens in agony with open wounds, burned chests and legs, high mortality rates, and horrific abuse by workers.

KFC Italy continues to ignore our requests

So far, KFC Italy has not responded to our requests, despite hundreds of our activists and followers having sent the company over 700 emails, 600 social media comments, 900 shares, and 1,000 tweets in the past year alone.

A few days ago, the company launched NOggets, chicken nuggets advertised as “not the usual ground, pre-breaded, and frozen chicken mush that tastes like nothing.”

A marketing claim that continues to mask the same suffering of chickens, which has remained a core part of KFC’s “secret recipe” since the beginning of our campaign. How many more slogans will we have to read before we see a real commitment?
